The Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) is recognisable by its entirely black thorax, yellow-tipped legs and predominantly black abdomen with a wide orange band. Smaller than the European hornet, it typically builds large nests at height.

The Asian hornet is an invasive species that threatens biodiversity, particularly honeybees, which it feeds on. For humans, multiple stings can be dangerous, especially for those with allergies. Removing nests helps protect both the environment and your safety.
